The recent official visit of the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, to Cairo on April 21–22, 2026, has solidified a high-level commitment to deepening bilateral relations. Received by H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, the visit marked a historic milestone—the first Finnish presidential visit to Egypt in over 15 years. During their intensive discussions, both leaders emphasized a shared vision for regional stability and economic growth, identifying telecommunications, digital transformation, renewable energy, and education as the primary engines of future cooperation. President Stubb, accompanied by a high-level delegation of 19 Finnish companies, underscored Finland’s eagerness to leverage Egypt’s strategic position as a gateway to Africa and the Middle East.
The Egypt Roadmap Workshop – Embassy of Egypt in Helsinki
Capitalizing on this diplomatic momentum, the Embassy of Egypt in Helsinki, under the leadership of H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ghoneim, recently convened the first “Business Roadmap” in collaboration with the Africa Business Network, FinnCham, and support from Finnpartnership. The event was honored by the presence of H.E. Ambassador Mohamed G., who provided hands-on strategic guidance. The Ambassador’s message was clear: success in international trade requires a multi-stakeholder bridge.

“It is important to support these synergies and we will be actively supporting SMEs with the right connections. To build a successful bridge and create something truly impactful, all parties—government, institutions, and the private sector—must be involved. Egypt is the perfect bridge to reach the African and the Middle east markets” stated the Ambassador.
Reflecting on the success of the initiative, Anu Saxén, Chair of the Africa Business Network, stated:
“The Africa Business Network, together with the Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Egypt in Finland, had the pleasure and honor to organize the first Business Roadmap. The purpose of the event was to find a match between the innovations of Finnish SMEs and the business opportunities in Egypt, and to help Finnish companies create a roadmap to develop their market entry further.”
